Locations from "Crime and Punishment"novel - part 3

The Horse Guards Blvd.

This is the place where Raskolnikov met a "drunk girl". In short - he noticed her, she looked strange and it was clear that something bad had happened to her. "The boulevard was generally deserted and there was almost no one about. And yet, a short distance away... a gentleman had stopped, who by all evidence would also have liked very much to approach the girl with certain intentions." That creepy guy was waiting for Rodya to leave. He didn't leave. Raskolnikov found a policeman, gave him money to hire a coachman to take her home, etc. This is an interesting scene. It characterizes the main character and shows the position of women in the society of that time, focuses a lot on their suffering. I’ll spare you the long quote, I'm sure anyone interested can find the chapter themselves. This is an interesting place, both on the boulevard and in the book.
